Pyongyang, August 12 (KCNA) -- The opposition parties including the Democratic Labor Party of south Korea held a press conference in Seoul on August 9 to denounce the puppet police for its brutal suppression of the strike of the unionists of Ssangyong Motor Co. They accused the police of perpetrating such inhuman atrocities as cutting off the supply of electricity and drinking water, etc. to the unionists of the company who had been on strike in demand of the guarantee of the right to existence and blocking even the medical treatment of the wounded. They charged that even after the strike was over, the police issued warrants of arrest for dozens of unionists and those related to the strike, etc. once again revealing its fascist nature. We can no longer remain a passive onlooker to this horrible suppression, the opposition parties noted, declaring they would form a "joint committee of four opposition parties for probing the truth behind the case of Ssangyong Motor Co. and brutal suppression of strikers" and wage a joint struggle against the dictatorial regime which hurled police force into the above-said repressive campaign. |
