Contained in the book are 60 works authored by Kim Jong Il from August 25, Juche 49 (1960) when he started his Songun revolutionary leadership to June 12, Juche 53 (1964).

Among them are works "Our Leader Is the Great Statesman" and "The Leader of Working Class Plays a Decisive Role in the Revolutionary Struggle", which make an original and scientific clarification of the position and role of the leader of the working class in the revolutionary struggle.

In several works he underscored the need to bolster up the Korean People's Army and boost the nation's military muscle by fully preparing the servicepersons politically and ideologically and in military technique and physically, guided by the President's military ideas, theories and tactics.

He also clarified the principled issues which would serve as guidelines for the socialist economic construction and the validity of the WPK's line of building an independent national economy.

The works explain the issue of properly estimating the history of Korea from a Juche-oriented stand and always relying on one's own efforts, the reactionary nature and harmfulness of modern revisionism and the inevitability of the collapse of the colonial system of imperialism.

The book also contains works calling on the Korean nation to unite to drive the U.S. imperialists out of south Korea and achieve the country's reunification and indicating tasks to be fulfilled to develop the Hwanghae Iron Works into a model unit for establishing a new industrial management system.
