The 3,000-odd-seater theatre has been renovated to be a modern theatre fully equipped with all facilities necessary for performers and audience.

Enjoying a bird's-eye view of the splendidly renovated theatre, he said that this was a historic place where an art performance celebrating the 20th anniversary of Korea's liberation was given in August of 1965 in the presence of President Kim Il Sung. He recollected with deep emotion those unforgettable historic days.

It is an amazing miracle that Kangwon Province completed the renovation project of the theatre by its own efforts and technology in such a brief span of time, he said, adding that this shining success is a precious fruition of the inexhaustible mental power of the party members and other working people of the province who built such monumental structure in the era of Songun as the Wonsan Youth Power Station by their own efforts in the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance.

The slogan "We Serve the People!" clearly reflects the unshakable will and determination of the WPK to devote everything to the happiness of the people, placing their interests above all, he said, underlining the need for all officials to enshrine deep in their minds their honorable mission as servants of the people and always use their brains and dedicate themselves to the promotion of the people's wellbeing.

He indicated important tasks which would serve as guidelines in managing and operating the theatre.

He was accompanied by Department Directors Jang Song Thaek and Pak Nam Gi and other leading officials of the WPK Central Committee.
