Light Industry Exhibition Held in Wartime

Pyongyang, August 17 (KCNA) -- President Kim Il Sung visited the light industry exhibition held in Pyongyang in October Juche 40 (1951) when the Fatherland Liberation War was at its height. In front of the knitted goods exhibition stand, the President took a suit of children's underwear in his hand and told that it was knitted well and beautifully. These knitted goods should be produced more to be supplied to the people, he added. Then he came to the footwear exhibition stand. He said that the problem of people's footwear should be settled by tapping all the reserves and potentials. In particular, he gave an earnest instruction to officials regarding the production of children's footwear. When he stepped towards the cosmetics exhibition stand, some officials exchanged words against the display of cosmetics, noting that it was unbecoming for the wartime. He admonished the officials, saying that our people were civilized and strong in revolutionary sprit and like bright and clean things. He stressed that the light and local industries should be further developed in the future to supply full daily necessaries to the people during the wartime. The officials were deeply moved by instructions of President Kim Il Sung who was deeply interested in improving the people's livelihood even in the hard-fought war decisive of the destiny of the country. |
