The statement noted that though 64 years have passed since the defeat of the Japanese imperialists, descendants of the pro-U.S. and pro-Japanese elements are still swaggering about in south Korea, seeking the permanent division of the nation.

It is impossible to expect the prosperity and future of the Korean Peninsula and the prospect for independence and peaceful reunification of the country is gloomy as long as the above-said traitors remain in power in south Korea, it said.

It referred to the fact that the U.S. is now getting frantic with the Ulji Freedom Guardian joint military exercises while making the Lee Myung Bak's group of traitors play the role of shock brigade for the realization of its strategy of aggression on the DPRK.

The Lee group is scheming to maintain its power at the sacrifice of the people and turn south Korea into a society of pro-U.S. and pro-Japanese lackeys, the statement charged.

It contended that the anti-war peace movement should be vigorously waged and the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration be implemented to the letter, in particular, in order to achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country. -0-
