Anniversary of Kim Jong Il's Start of Songun Revolutionary Leadership Observed by Young People

Pyongyang, August 21 (KCNA) -- A meeting took place by youth and students at the Central Youth Hall on Friday to mark the 49th anniversary of General Secretary Kim Jong Il's start of Songun revolutionary leadership. Present there were Kim Jung Rin, secretary of the C.C., the Workers' Party of Korea, officials concerned, officials of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League and youth and students in Pyongyang. A report of Ri Yong Chol, first secretary of the Central Committee of the youth league, was followed by speeches there. They said that the history of Kim Jong Il's Songun revolutionary leadership marked sacred years during which he has resolutely defended President Kim Il Sung's idea and line of attaching importance to the army and military affairs and developed them in depth as well as a course shining with victories and glories in which he provided invincible military might by pursuing the original Songun politics and brought about epoch-making miracles and changes in confrontation with imperialists and the United States and building a rich and powerful country. They noted that Kim Jong Il has developed the People's Army into an invincible and strong revolutionary army of Mt. Paektu with his Songun revolutionary leadership and demonstrated to the world the dignity and might of Juche Korea in defending socialism and building a great prosperous and powerful nation by firmly consolidating the single-minded unity of the revolutionary ranks. They stressed the need for the youth to firmly arm themselves with the Songun revolutionary idea of Kim Jong Il and become first-line death-defying corps and human bombs and bullets defending the headquarters of the revolution politically and ideologically and at the risk of their lives, carrying forward the sacred tradition of devotedly safeguarding the leader. Poem "Long Live Great Victory of Songun!" was recited at the meeting. |
