Kim Yong Sul, chairman of the confederation, said at the event that President Kim Il Sung defeated the Japanese imperialists with arms of Songun to liberate the country and ushered in a new era of independence, dignity and prosperity of the nation in Korea.

The patriotic cause of the President is being successfully carried forward under the Songun revolutionary leadership of Kim Jong Il, the speaker said, lauding Kim Jong Il for having smashed the imperialist allied forces' political pressure, military threat and economic blockade by dint of Songun to reliably defend the national dignity and sovereignty and opened an epochal phase for national reunification.

He stressed that the day of independent reunification would surely come as it is led by Kim Jong Il.
