Rodong Sinmun notes that the history of his Songun revolutionary leadership is a glorious history in which he has developed the Korean People's Army into a main force of the revolution and invincible revolutionary army of Mt. Paektu, a sacred history in which he has consolidated the single-minded unity of the revolutionary ranks in every way with the KPA as the core and a history in which he has brought about a great surge in socialist construction by giving full play to the mental power of all the servicepersons and people.

Under the care of Kim Jong Il the KPA has grown to be an army strong in idea and faith as all its servicepersons are replete with the spirit of devotedly defending the leader and it is pervaded with a revolutionary commanding system and military discipline and the best elite revolutionary army in which they are fully prepared as a-match-for-a hundred fighters fully equipped with modern weapons.

He has achieved the perfect unity of the army and people in thinking and fighting traits with the KPA as a model and core as required by the Songun era, thereby putting the single-minded unity of the DPRK on a new higher level.
