The Korean youth have performed heroic feats for the country and the revolution by fully displaying their wisdom and courage, true to the ideas and guidance of the Workers' Party of Korea and the President and Kim Jong Il. This is the glorious tradition of the struggle of the Korean youth.

The young people were the staunch fighters who, true to the leadership of the President, shed blood and sweat without hesitation in the arduous struggle to liberate Korea and in the days of building a new country and during the hard-fought Fatherland Liberation War and vanguard fighters who performed heroic epic feats to shine long in the history of the country by taking the lead in the drive for effecting a great revolutionary surge in the days of building a socialist power on debris in the postwar period.

The youth of the DPRK firmly defended Korean-style socialism with arms and built lots of monumental structures including the Youth Hero Motorway and modern power stations in different parts of the country by remaining true to the Party's Songun leadership in a do-or-die spirit even in the days of "the Arduous March", forced march. In this course they played the role of vanguard in paving the way for building a land of bliss.

The successful launch of satellite Kwangmyongsong-2 and success made in the second nuclear test, both events that fully demonstrated the dignity and might of Songun Korea, are also associated with the heroic endeavors and ardent patriotism of young scientists in the DPRK.

Very profound and great are the Party's trust and expectation towards the young vanguard in the on-going drive for opening the gate to a thriving nation in 2012, the paper notes, calling upon the youth to highly exalt the honor of being vanguard and shock-brigade on all fronts of socialist construction.
