10th Anniversary of IMAGC Observed

Pyongyang, September 2 (KCNA) -- A meeting to mark the 10th anniversary of the founding of the International Martial Arts Games Committee (IMAGC) took place at the Taedonggang Diplomatic Corps Club on Wednesday. Present there were Kwak Pom Gi, vice-premier of the Cabinet, Chang Ung, chairman of the IMAGC who doubles as president of the International Taekwon-Do Federation, Leong Wai Meng, vice-president of the federation and secretary general of the committee, members of the executive committee, delegates of various countries and regions and officials concerned. Kwak in his congratulatory address at the meeting expressed belief that this event would mark an opportunity of deepening the friendship among the world martial arts players, boosting the ties of solidarity and cooperation among them and developing the IMAGC. Chang Ung in his report at the meeting referred to the successes made by the IMAGC since its founding and tasks to be fulfilled by it in the days ahead. Then the floor was taken by Leong Wai Meng, Fritz Wendland, founding president of the WKC, Khor Eng Chor, president of the Australian Martial Art Games Committee, and Marek Atilla Janecek, senior vice-president of the WMF. A letter to General Secretary Kim Jong Il was adopted at the meeting. The letter noted that the achievements made by the IMAGC over the last decade would be unthinkable without the particular care of Kim Jong Il and the positive assistance of the government of the DPRK. The martial arts players of various countries will extend firm support and solidarity to the Korean people in their just cause of achieving Korea's reunification and building a thriving nation, it stressed. |
