The editorial refers to the fact that President Kim Il Sung built a socialist power, independent in politics, self-supporting in economy and self-reliant in national defense, on this land by working heart and soul all his life and General Secretary Kim Jong Il made the DPRK shine as great Kim Il Sung's Korea, powerful and prosperous, by providing his Songun leadership.

The DPRK has greeted a shining era of the greatest prosperity in the nation's history spanning 5,000 years under the Songun revolutionary leadership, the editorial notes, and goes on:

Immensely bright and rosy is the future of the DPRK which has dynamically advanced along the road of independence and prosperity holding Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il in high esteem.

The editorial calls on all the servicepersons and people to continue giving full play to the traditional revolutionary spirit and fighting traits such as intense loyalty that calls for reposing firm trust in their leader and party only and following them to the last in the on-going great surge, strong national self-esteem which means regarding and glorifying the dignity and honor of the nation as their life and soul and the spirit of self-reliance and the spirit of fortitude which calls for pulling through all difficulties by their own efforts.

It urges all Koreans in the north and the south and abroad to dynamically advance, courageously shattering the moves of the separatist forces opposed to reunification at home and abroad under the uplifted banner of the historic June 15 joint declaration and the Oct. 4 declaration and thus bring earlier the bright day of national reunification, the cherished desire of the nation.

The DPRK will as always firmly adhere to the principle of independence in foreign relations and make every possible effort to boost the solidarity with the peace-loving progressive people of the world opposed to aggression and war.
