The Koreans can never achieve national reunification and the prosperity common to the nation if they remain standing in confrontation, divided into the north and the south as ever under such complicated situation as now.

Rodong Sinmun Friday says this in a signed article.

It goes on:

The more pressing national reunification becomes and the greater obstacles and difficulties lie in its way and the more serious the situation gets, the higher all the Koreans should hold the banner of great national unity and the more sincerely they should dedicate themselves to the patriotic struggle for national reunification.

The spirit of loving the country and the nation and the national sentiment peculiar to the Korean nation and the noble idea of "By our nation itself" clarified in the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and the October 4 declaration constitute an ideological and moral basis of the great unity of the whole nation and motive power for it.

There is no change in the will of the Workers' Party of Korea to unite and go hand in hand with whoever stands for national reunification with national conscience in the same ranks standing for the great national unity.

The north, south and overseas sides should strengthen their solidarity and alliance in the actions to support and implement the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and the October 4 declaration.

It is necessary for all political parties, organizations and Koreans from all walks of life in the north and the south and abroad to conduct dynamic joint actions, supporting and solidarizing with one another in the struggle to implement the inter-Korean declarations and thus strengthen the tripartite solidarity and alliance among the three sides and promote national concord and unity.
