Pyongyang, September 18 (KCNA) -- Sixty-three unconverted long-term prisoners returned to the north nine years ago. They had unhesitatingly devoted their youth to the reunification of the country and fought without abandoning their faith and principles. When crossing over the military demarcation line, the modern medicine concluded that they would survive only for a few years. But they are still leading a worthwhile life, freely treading on the ground. General Secretary Kim Jong Il brought about a "life switchover from hell to paradise" for them. He has showed all love and benevolence to them, saying to the following effect: It is my duty to make them take back the youth and spend their remaining years in glory and happiness. They became heroes of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and winners of the National Reunification Prize in the bosom of Kim Jong Il, the great sun of Songun. Literary and artistic works have been created with unconverted long-term prisoners as model to introduce their heroic deeds to the world and various legend-like stories are reported, including the news that they received birthday tables. They, therefore, are going of their own accord into the sites for building a great, prosperous and powerful nation with an ardent longing for Kim Jong Il who bestows glory and happiness on them today, too, and with the will to repay to and devote themselves to the thankful motherland. In the period of the 150-day campaign they visited Kangson (Chollima Steel Complex), carrying with them their sincere assistance materials, and sang songs of faith and struggle to powerfully inspire the workers to increased steel production. They have held meetings, art circle performances and painting and writing shows at scores of units across the country and thus excited the viewers. |
