Displayed in the venue of the exhibition were celebrated works of President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il and photos and fine art works introducing the history of the development of the DPRK-China friendly relations, spectacular scenery of Korea and happiness of the Korean people.

Present at the ceremony were the vice-minister of Culture of China, officials concerned, popular masses and Choe Jin Su, DPRK ambassador to China, his embassy officials and the delegation of the DPRK book, photo and fine art exhibition on a visit to China.

The vice-minister of Culture of China said at the ceremony that it is very auspicious to hold in Beijing and Pyongyang exhibitions showing the history of the development of friendly relations between the two countries and successes achieved in building socialist culture on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the bilateral diplomatic relations.

The bilateral relations of friendship and cooperation have been steadily consolidated and brisk exchange and cooperation conducted in the field of culture under the care of the top leaders of the two countries, the speaker noted. Stressing that the exhibition would offer the Chinese people an opportunity to know better about achievements made by the Korean people in socialist construction and their peculiar customs and promote the understanding between the peoples of the two countries, the vice-minister hoped that the exhibition would achieve good success and the China-DPRK friendship would last forever.

The DPRK ambassador to China said that the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries was a significant event that opened a new chapter of the history of bilateral friendship. The exhibition will showcase well the true picture of Songun Korea vigorously advancing with the might of single-minded unity under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il and the friendly feelings of the Korean people toward the Chinese people and thus successfully decorate the "year of DPRK-China friendship".

At the end of the ceremony, the participants looked round the books, photos and fine art works on display.
