7th National Korean Dress Show
Pyongyang, October 1 (KCNA) -- The 7th National Korean Dress Show was held recently at the Central Youth Hall on the bank of the River Taedong flowing through Pyongyang.

Present at the show were scores of units from Pyongyang and local areas, including the Garment Institute under the Ministry of Foodstuff and Daily Necessities Industry and the Korea Unha General Trading Corporation.

On display at the show were more than 1,300 suits of Korean clothes such as everyday clothes, holiday best, wedding dress and children's clothes and various fashions of clothes according to the seasons.

Catching the eyes of the visitors were Korean costumes exhibited by the Songhu Quality Tailor's Shop in Hyesan City, Ryanggang Province, which finished first at the show.

The tailor's shop made its exhibits with silk fabrics loved by the Koreans. They were well harmonized with decent, tidy and elegant colors and decorated with hand-embroidery, gold leaf, beads and pictures to show the gracefulness and beauty of the Korean costume.

The Garment Institute under the Ministry of Foodstuff and Daily Necessities Industry presented Korean chima (skirt) and jogori (coat) suited to the national sentiment of the Korean people who like faint and gentle colors to win the popularity of the visitors.

Short courses, a scientific paper presentation and other events were held under the sponsorship of the Korean Apparel Association.

Pak Hyon Sik, secretary general of the Korean Apparel Association, told KCNA that the show contributed to further deepening the research into and dissemination of the Korean costume and to developing the fine dressing culture of the nation in accordance with the aesthetic sense of the Songun era.
