Kim Jong Il Greets Chinese Party and State Leaders

Pyongyang, October 5 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il together with Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, and Kim Yong Il, premier of the Cabinet, Monday sent a message of greetings to Hu Jintao, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, president of the People's Republic of China and chairman of the Central Military Commission of the PRC, Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress, and Wen Jiabao, premier of the State Council of the PRC, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the DPRK and the PRC.

The message said:

We extend warm congratulations and friendly greetings to you and, through you, to the Communist Party of China, the government and people of the PRC on behalf of the Workers' Party of Korea and the government and people of the DPRK on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the DPRK and the PRC.

The establishment of diplomatic ties between the DPRK and the PRC was an epochal event as it helped comprehensively develop the long-standing friendly relations between the two countries on a new higher stage.

Over the past six decades since the establishment of diplomatic ties the two countries have steadily consolidated and developed the bonds of friendship while closely supporting and cooperating with each other in political, military, economic, cultural and all other fields. This has greatly contributed to encouraging socialist construction in the two countries and ensuring peace and security in Asia and the rest of the world.

Our two countries are significantly celebrating this year after setting it as the "year of DPRK-China friendship".

We are convinced that the "year of DPRK-China friendship" is marking a significant occasion in reviewing the shining six decades of friendship and cooperation, designing more beautiful future and powerfully demonstrating the invariable vitality of the traditional DPRK-China friendship.

Consistent is the stand of our party and government of the Republic to strengthen generation after generation the DPRK-China friendship, the precious common wealth handed down to us by the revolutionaries of the elder generation of our two countries.

In the belief that the DPRK-China friendly and cooperative relations would steadily grow stronger thanks to the concerted efforts of the parties, governments and peoples of the two countries, we sincerely hope that the Chinese people will register greater successes in the future in the work to build a harmonious socialist society based on the scientific view on development under the leadership of the CPC with Hu Jintao as general secretary.
