Kim Jong Il Visits Wen Jiabao at State Guest House
Pyongyang, October 5 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il visited the state guest house for Wen Jiabao, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, on an official goodwill visit to the DPRK and received him on Monday.

Present there were Yang Jiechi, minister of Foreign Affairs, Wang Jiarui, head of the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee, Zhang Ping, minister in charge of the National Development and Reform Commission, Chen Deming, minister of Commerce, Cai Wu, minister of Culture, Xie Fuzhan, director of the Research Office of the State Council, Qiu Xiaoxiong, vice secretary-general of the State Council and director of the Premier's Office, Wu Dawei, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, Liu Zhenqi, deputy director of the General Political Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, Liu Xiaoming, Chinese ambassador to the DPRK, and other suite members.

Kang Sok Ju, first vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, Kim Yang Gon, department director of the Central Committee of the WPK, and Kim Yong Il, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, were present there.

On the occasion Wen Jiabao conveyed the greetings of Hu Jintao, general secretary of the Central Committee of the CPC and president of the PRC, to Kim Jong Il.

Kim Jong Il once again extended congratulations on the 60th birthday of the PRC before asking Wen to convey his regards to Hu Jintao. He had a sincere talk with Wen Jiabao on the issue of boosting the DPRK-China friendship and a series of matters of mutual concern.

Kim Jong Il pointed out as regards the issue of denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula:

The denuclearization of the peninsula was the behest of President Kim Il Sung.

The hostile relations between the DPRK and the United States should be converted into peaceful ties through the bilateral talks without fail.

We expressed our readiness to hold multilateral talks, depending on the outcome of the DPRK-U.S. talks. The six-party talks are also included in the multilateral talks.

Our efforts to attain the goal of denuclearizing the peninsula remain unchanged.

The talk proceeded in a cordial and friendly atmosphere.
