Rodong Sinmun Tuesday says this in an editorial article on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the DPRK and China.

The establishment of the bilateral diplomatic relations on October 6, 1949 was an epochal event in developing the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries, the article notes, and goes on:

The Korean people actively helped the Chinese people in the anti-Japanese war and the civil war and the latter rendered material and moral support to the former in the last Fatherland Liberation War.

The peoples of the two countries have closely supported and cooperated with each other and strengthened solidarity in carrying out the common cause of socialist construction and peace against war.

The flower garden of the DPRK-China friendship was provided and cultivated by President Kim Il Sung and the leaders of the elder generation of China and it has been brought into fuller bloom generation after generation.

The peoples of the DPRK and China are pleased with the fact that the bilateral friendly and cooperative relations are steadily growing stronger under the deep care of the top leaders of the two countries.

The development of the DPRK-China friendship is contributing to accelerating socialist construction in the two countries and ensuring peace and security in Asia and the rest of the world.

The Korean people are sincerely rejoiced over all the achievements made in China and wholeheartedly wish the Chinese people new progress and victory.

It is the common desire and will of the two parties and the two peoples to consolidate and develop the traditional bilateral friendship generation after generation.
