Rodong Sinmun Wednesday in a signed commentary carried in this regard observes: This was prompted by their sinister intention to further step up the establishment of MD in Northeast Asia under the pretext of "joint defence".

Pointing out that U.S. hard-line conservative forces are busy floating the fiction about "missile threat" from the DPRK in a bid to secure a justification for building a missile shield in Northeast Asia, the commentary says:

The projected U.S. building of the missile shield is not for "defence" but for mounting a preemptive attack.

It is the calculation of the U.S. that the building of the missile shield in Northeast Asia would help it put all countries of Asia within the sphere of missile attack and mount surprise attacks on them.

The U.S. stepped-up moves to build the missile shield would only render the situation complicated, seriously threaten and disturb peace and increase the danger of war.

It is as clear as noonday that powers in Northeast Asia will not remain a passive onlooker to the above-said U.S. moves.

No matter how craftily the U.S. is working to spread the story about the non-existent "missile threat" of someone in a bid to cover up the aggressive nature and aims of its building of the missile shield, this will get it nowhere in the present bright world.

The U.S. would be well advised to face up to the reality and stop the arms buildup for aggression and the building of the missile shield which would disturb the global strategic stability and spark a new arms race and a nuclear war.
