Important Days of DPRK Marked in Different Countries
Pyongyang, October 10 (KCNA) -- Meetings were held in Sweden and Switzerland on the occasions of the 64th birthday of the Workers' Party of Korea and the 2nd anniversary of the publication of the October 4 declaration and a DPRK book, photo and fine art exhibition was opened with due ceremony in Yanbian Korean Autonomous District of China and a lecture, a film show and an opening ceremony of a DPRK book, photo and handcraft exhibition were held in Brazil on the occasion of the 64th birthday of the WPK from September 29 to October 3.

Displayed in the venues of the functions were works and photos of President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il, books and photos introducing Songun Korea and handcrafts made by Koreans.

Christer Lundgren, chairman of the Sweden-Korea Friendship Association, noted at the meeting that the WPK has victoriously led the Korean people's struggle to defend the sovereignty of the country and build socialism under the leadership of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.

He said that the association would positively support the Korean people in their struggle to build a thriving socialist nation and achieve the country's reunification, true to the Songun revolutionary line of Kim Jong Il.

Martin Lotscher, chairman of the Switzerland-Korea Committee, at the meeting said that he will intensify the solidarity movement for supporting the Korean people's struggle to open the gate to a thriving nation in 2012, the centenary of birth of the President.

The acting chairman of the Social Party of Brazil said in his speech that the party would learn from the precious experience gained by the WPK in the anti-imperialist struggle and strive to build an independent, equal and new world.

The participants of the film show watched the Korean film introducing the grand gymnastic and artistic performance "Arirang".

Messages of greetings to Kim Jong Il were adopted at the meetings.
