Rodong Sinmun says: President Kim Il Sung founded the WPK on October 10, Juche 34 (1945). This was a historic event that brought about an epochal turn in carving out the independent destiny of the Korean people and accomplishing the cause of building a rich and powerful country.

This would be unthinkable without the undying feats performed by the President in the party building.

The WPK has reached a new higher stage in its development in the era of Songun led by General Secretary Kim Jong Il.
