Formed in September,1959, the Anglers Association under the Nature Conservation Union of Korea celebrated its 50th birthday this year.

Han Tong Man, secretary general of the association, told KCNA that it had done much toward encouraging angling in the country, helping the working people enjoy rich cultural and emotional life.

It, he added, organizes the national angling contest in Pyongyang with anglers qualified in each province. It also conducts dissemination of angling knowledge, experience-sharing meeting, exhibition of fishing tackles and others in various forms and methods.

All the provinces, cities and counties (districts) have their own anglers associations, which involve tens of thousands of members throughout the country.
