Inter-Korean Buddhist Mass Held
Pyongyang, October 13 (KCNA) -- A north-south joint Buddhist mass praying for national reunification was held at Singye Temple in Mt. Kumgang on Tuesday on the occasion of the second anniversary of the restoration of the temple.

Present at the mass were office-bearers of the Central Committee of the Buddhist Federation of Korea, priests and believers at the temple and priests and believers of Jogye Order from south Korea.

The temple tolled its bell, triple rituals were held and prajna-paramit a-sutra was read out to be followed by speeches.

The speakers said that holding a joint mass at Singye Temple, a symbol of Buddhist temple for reunification, is a manifestation of the will of the Buddhists in the north and the south to invariably preserve and implement the inter-Korean declarations and strengthen solidarity and cooperation between them in the efforts to achieve national reunification.

A joint prayer was released at the mass. It reflected the determination of the Buddhists in the north and the south to pave the way for the tour of Mt. Kumgang and the pilgrimage to Singye Temple and actively turn out in the actions for the country's reunification and peace and prosperity.
