The reunion of separated families and relatives from the north and the south of Korea was successfully held at Mt. Kumgang resort on the occasion of the Harvest Moon Day this year. The reunion proved once again the inevitability of the implementation of the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration and offered an important occasion for putting spurs to the improvement of the inter-Korean relations in the direction of reconciliation and unity, cooperation and exchange.

It is the requirements of the era and the aspiration of the whole nation for the north and the south to fully cooperate in various fields including economy, social culture and humanitarianism as required by the historic June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration.

The north and the south should continue to carry forward the atmosphere of cooperation and exchange, including the resumption of the tour of Mt. Kumgang and Kaesong and the revitalization of the Kaesong Industrial Zone, on the basis of the recent achievement.

If the north and the south revitalize economic cooperation on the principle of promoting common interests and co-prosperity and on the principle of mutual accommodation and realize cooperation and exchange in social culture, humanitarianism and other fields, it would help them jointly develop and exploit each other's resources and technologies and thus develop the economy on a nationwide scale and re-link the severed bonds of the nation.

The issue of the inter-Korean relations is the internal issue of the nation and, therefore, this can be solved only by the Korean nation responsible for it.

The north and the south should realize dialogue and reenergize the visits and contacts, cooperation and exchange in various fields in the spirit of the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration and thus put spurs to the reunification and prosperity of the nation.
