Present there on invitation were Ismail Teliwardi, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress, the vice-president of the Xinhua News Agency, Wu Donghe, chairman of the China-Korea Friendship Association, the assistant to foreign minister, the assistant to the head of the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and other officials concerned.

Choe Jin Su, DPRK ambassador to China, and his embassy officials were present.

Choe Jin Su in his speech made at the reception said that the DPRK and China have dynamically pushed ahead with the cause of socialist construction, supporting and closely cooperating with each other since the establishment of diplomatic ties 60 years ago and made a positive contribution to defending the peace and security in the region and the rest of the world.

It is the invariable stand of the Workers' Party of Korea and the DPRK government to steadily consolidate and develop the DPRK-China friendship generation after generation, he said, adding:

The Korean people together with the Chinese comrades will make positive efforts to put the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries on a higher stage with the said anniversary and the "year of DPRK-China friendship" as a new starting point.

Ismail Teliwardi in his speech said that the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries opened up a new chapter in the bilateral relations. The good neighborly, friendly and cooperative relations between China and the DPRK have steadily developed thanks to the care of the leaders of the two countries and the concerted efforts of both sides, he noted, and went on:

The Chinese party and government have always set store by the traditional Sino-DPRK friendship and considered it as their invariable line to steadily boost the good neighborly, friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries. The Chinese people together with the Korean comrades will sincerely implement the agreement reached between the leaders of the two countries and thus carry forward the Sino-DPRK friendship better and boost it.

A reception was also given at the DPRK consulate general in Shenyang on the same day.
