The army and people of the DPRK, with deep emotion, take this opportunity to look back upon the undying exploits of President Kim Il Sung who provided the deep and strong root of the Party and the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il who has strengthened and developed the Workers' Party of Korea to be invincible revolutionary party by brilliantly carrying forward the tradition of the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU).

Kim Jong Il, in the work, clarifies that the programme of the DIU became the basis of our Party's Programme, and the principle of independence advanced by this organization became the principle of our party building and activity and the communists of the new generation whom the DIU began to train, became the backbone in the establishment of our Party.

The WPK inheriting the glorious tradition of the DIU is a dignified revolutionary party upholding the banner of independence.

The WPK's idea and line of party building is the Juche-oriented ones and its slogan is also a revolutionary slogan "Let us live our own way!"

As the WPK has adopted the independent politics, the DPRK shines as a powerful socialist country that no one can pounce upon and the Korean people become a revolutionary people strong in self-respect.

The WPK is an invincible revolutionary party winning victory after victory under the banner of Songun.

The programme of the DIU contains the idea of giving importance to arms that the armed enemy can be beat down only with arms.

Its idea of Songun has been maintained firmly in the annals of the Korean revolution and applied fully to all fields of party and state activities by the Songun politics.

Kim Jong Il, basing himself on the President's Songun idea and Songun revolutionary leadership exploits, created the mode of Songun politics and formulated it as main mode of socialist politics.

Under the leadership of Kim Jong Il all the Korean army and people will advance forward more dynamically along the road of independence and Songun and carry to accomplishment the cause of building a great, prosperous and powerful socialist nation and the revolutionary cause of Juche.
