This proud reality is unthinkable apart from the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU) which created the great model of the single-minded unity with the love and trust of the leader and the faith and fidelity of the soldiers.

The formation of the DIU 83 years ago provided the root of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and created the history of the single-minded unity, mighty weapon of the Songun revolution.

The DIU, formed with fresh and pure hot-blooded youth who were not infected by any old thoughts, put forth the unity as their lifeblood and was the first political organism which gave the origin to the unity and cohesion centered on the leader in the Songun revolution.

Charmed by the prominent greatness of President Kim Il Sung, the DIU's young revolutionaries of new generation constituted an organizational integral whole sharing destiny, intention and breath with him as the centre of the unity and the centre of leadership.

It was none other than vanguard revolutionary fighters of the DIU who composed the song of heart eulogizing the leader and fought true to their oath with the firm belief that the Korean revolution would certainly be crowned with victory under his leadership.

Under the grave situation in which the white terrorism of the Japanese imperialists stalked, the DIU protected the leader of the revolution at the cost of life, defended the unity like the apple of the eye and rallied the popular masses around the leader to strengthen the internal forces of the Songun revolution. This tradition became the ideological source of the single-minded unity of the WPK and the revolutionary ranks and the spiritual paragon for them.

By the ardent fighters educated and trained by the DIU, the tradition of the single-minded unity based on the revolutionary idea of the leader and united around him was established for the first time in the Korean revolution.

The Songun revolutionary ranks of Korea were formed with the young revolutionaries of the DIU as the nuclei and their spiritual world and fighting spirit were displayed to the full in the grim years of the Korean revolution.

The red flag flattering on the road of the Songun revolution is the banner of unity and comradeship which was handed down by the youth revolutionaries of the DIU and the revolutionary soldier spirit which brought about the dawn of a great, prosperous and powerful nation is the noble spirit of the times inheriting the revolutionary spirit of Mt. Paektu pioneered by the DIU.

The entire army and all the people of the DPRK will rally close around General Secretary Kim Jong Il and energetically strive to bring earlier the day of a thriving nation with the tradition of the DIU which created the model of the single-minded unity of the Party and the revolutionary ranks as the eternal lifeline.
