The statement recalled that the U.S. and the south Korean military authorities had staged the joint military exercise since October 13 under the simulated conditions of someone's "infiltration" in the West Sea of Korea with nuclear-powered carrier "George Washington" belonging to the U.S. Seventh Fleet involved.

This was indication that the U.S. and the south Korean military authorities are busy with the preparations for attacking the north, far from working for dialogue for peace on the Korean Peninsula quite contrary to the trend of the times, the statement noted, and continued:

The military exercise staged in the West Seat of Korea fraught with the greatest danger of military conflict with the involvement of even the nuclear-powered carrier created the danger of bringing the situation on the Korean Peninsula to the brink of a war again.

The U.S. unceasing saber rattling is making the Korean issue complicated, it said, urging the U.S. to stop posing threat of a war to the north and positively opt for dialogue for concluding a peace agreement.
