Kim Jong Il Enjoys Performance Given by Russian Academy Ensemble

Pyongyang, October 18 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il together with servicepersons of the KPA enjoyed a performance given on Saturday by the Academy Ensemble of the Interior Unit of the Russian Ministry of Interior, on a visit to the DPRK. He was greeted at the theatre by Victor Yeliseev, chief of the ensemble, and Valery Sukhinin, Russian ambassador to the DPRK, and other official diplomats of the embassy. Kim Jong Il warmly welcomed the ensemble's visit to the DPRK and expressed thanks for its enthusiastic performances given in Pyongyang and local area pleasing the servicepersons and people of the DPRK marking the 64th birthday of the WPK. He had a friendly talk with the guests. When he appeared in the auditorium, the whole audience enthusiastically welcomed him. Among the audience were Choe Thae Bok and Kim Ki Nam, secretaries of the Central Committee of the WPK, and its senior officials including its department directors and first vice department directors, Ju Sang Song, minister of People's Security, Kang Sok Ju, first vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, KPA Generals Hyon Chol Hae and Ri Myong Su and other commanding officers of the KPA. The performance began with chorus "Song of General Kim Il Sung". Put on the stage were such colorful numbers as male solo and chorus "Return to Sorento", female solo and chorus "Looking at Blue Lake", dance "Dance of Russian Holiday", Korean song "My Blessed Life" and male solo and chorus "Eternal Friends of DPRK and Russia" which was specially created for its performance tour of the DPRK. The performers truthfully represented the ardent love of the army and people of Russia for the country, their optimistic life and national emotion with high artistry. The performance ended with chorus "Song of General Kim Jong Il". Kim Jong Il sent a floral basket to the performers congratulating them on their successful performance. |
