He, who had taken the road of independent development of the revolution in his early years, formed the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU) in October of Juche 15 (1926) to set the milestone of a radical turn in shaping the destiny of the country and nation.

The Juche-oriented revolutionary cause which was pioneered by the DIU has vigorously advanced along the road of independence, Songun and unity for the past 80-odd years.

The President created the immortal Juche idea to blaze the road of the era and the revolution and thoroughly implemented the idea and principle of independence in the whole course of leading the Korean revolution.

Thanks to the banner of independence held aloft by the President the Korean people have been able to create the glorious history of the national liberation and prosperity with their own efforts, meeting all the challenges in history and firmly adhering to the Juche-oriented revolutionary method.

Having declared confrontation with the imperialists through the formation of the DIU, the President had consistently held fast to the idea and line of giving importance to arms from the early period of the Juche-oriented revolution and ensured the victory of the general Korean revolution by dint of invincible military forces.

He had built a prosperous and powerful socialist country by increasing the military strength of the revolution throughout his life. His Songun revolutionary leadership exploits gave birth to the great Songun politics of the Workers' Party of Korea and ushered in the grand Songun era.

The formation of the DIU marked a turning point in opening up the new era of the revolution in which young vanguards of the new generation advanced and emerged victorious with invincible might of the single-minded unity centering on the leader.

The glorious cause of the revolution pioneered by the President is being carried forward and developed on a new higher level in accordance with the pure lineage of the DIU under the leadership of Kim Jong Il.

He has pursued the Songun politics by creditably inheriting the Songun idea and line with their origin in the DIU, which constitutes the fundamental source for the Korean revolution to have won victories century after century.

Full of faith and optimism about certain victory, the Korean people will in the future, too, vigorously hasten the historical advance for bringing the Juche-oriented revolutionary cause to accomplishment which started from the formation of the DIU and for successfully realizing the cause of building a great, prosperous and powerful nation.
