U.S. and S. Korea Accused of Holding Anti-DPRK War Huddle
Pyongyang, October 24 (KCNA) -- The "annual security consultative meeting" held by the south Korean and U.S. military authorities comes under fire by signed commentaries of leading papers Saturday.

They observe that the authorities held this meeting crying out for beefing up the U.S. forces and "providing extended deterrent" as part of their scenario for invading the DPRK at a time when there is a sign of detente on the Korean Peninsula and an atmosphere favorable for the improvement of the inter-Korean relations has been created.

This is nothing but a disturbing move to escalate the confrontation with the DPRK as it is designed to torpedo the process to improve the inter-Korean relations, they add.

Rodong Sinmun says: The "posture of military counteraction" uttered by them over what they called somebody's "nuclear threat" is nothing but a revelation of their criminal attempt to vitiate the atmosphere of dialogue and cooperation at any cost and seek a solution to issues through confrontation and pressure.

The measures taken by the DPRK to bolster up its nuclear deterrent are an exercise of its legitimate right to protect the country and socialism and the security of the whole nation from the U.S. ceaseless nuclear threat.

What is threatening the Korean Peninsula is not somebody's "nuclear issue" but the invariable hostile policy pursued by the bellicose forces at home and abroad towards the DPRK and their reckless military provocations which cast chill over the atmosphere of dialogue and cooperation.

The south Koran authorities should pay heed to the public voices at home and abroad demanding the improved inter-Korean relations and a switchover in their policy of confrontation and stop at once the military provocations perpetrated by them against fellow countrymen in collusion with outside forces.

Minju Joson warns that the south Korean authorities' act of toeing the U.S. line aimed at doing harm to compatriots with nuclear weapons would only invite a war. They should bear this in mind, cogitate and stop dancing to the U.S. tune, urges the paper.
