Pyongyang, October 30 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave on-site guidance to the Suphung Power Station. Guided by leading officials of the station he went round the monument to the on-site instructions of President Kim Il Sung and the room for education in the revolutionary history. Noting that the Suphung Power Station developed into a leading power producer under the wise leadership and meticulous care of the President, he stressed that the immortal exploits performed by the President for the development of the Juche-oriented power industry will remain long in the history of the country. The workers at the station have made great contributions to laying the foundations for the nation's self-supporting economy and improving the standard of people's living while upholding the WPK with production of electricity for over 60 years, he said, highly estimating their proud feats. Then he made the rounds of different places of the station running at full capacity for increased output of electricity to acquaint himself in detail with the situation of technical improvement and production of electricity. It is an admirable success that officials, workers and technicians of the station have made radical progress in production of electricity by solving manifold technical problems on their own through brisk drive for modernization and scientification of production processes and active mass technical innovation movement, he said, highly praising their merit. Very glad to see the spectacular huge-size generators, manufactured by workers in Taean, running in high gear, he said that the national economy is dynamically advancing along the road of victory without vacillation even in any global economic upheavals as it is backed by the powerful Juche-based industry which has been put on the high scientific and technical foundations. Saying that the position and role of the power station is very important as it holds a big portion in the nation's production of electricity, he indicated important tasks to be fulfilled by it. The most important task facing the power station is to improve the management of equipment and technological control to operate it in full capacity, he said, adding that to this end it is necessary for all the operators to take care of equipment and machines like the apple of the eye and, at the same time, fully meet the requirements of technical norms and the standard methods of operation. Noting that in order to keep the electricity production going at a high rate at the station it is necessary to wage a ceaseless dynamic drive for modernizing and scientizing its equipment and invent and introduce new technology, he stressed that what is important for this is to strengthen the creative cooperation among scientists, technicians and workers. In order to meet the growing demand for electricity it is essential to raise the utility rate of the existing generators and finish the project for installing generators now under way ahead of schedule. He expressed great expectation and conviction that the workers of the station would successfully carry out the militant tasks assigned to them by the WPK and thus creditably perform their honorable duties in building a thriving nation. He was accompanied by Kim Phyong Hae, chief secretary of the North Phyongan Provincial Committee of the WPK, and Secretary Kim Ki Nam, Department Directors Pak Nam Gi and Jang Song Thaek and first vice department directors of the WPK Central Committee. |
