New Plant Discovered in DPRK
Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- Researchers in the institute of the Central Botanical Garden have discovered a plant of new variety belonging to the cuckooflower family, which had been unknown in the world, in the course of surveying plants growing on Mt. Myohyang.

The botanical circles of the DPRK deepened research into the new plant and named it "Hyangsan cuckooflower" and gave it a scientific name "Cardamine hyangsanensis S.K.KO et J.O.Ri, Sp.nov."

It is a perennial plant which lives in stock in Chilsong Ravine.

Its underground root is short.

It has a hairless single and straight stem, about 30-40 centimeters long.

Its compound leaf is feather-shaped and thin.

The leafstalk is about 4-9 centimeters long and its tip is sharp.

There are no hairs on both sides of the leaf except short hairs around its rim.

Over 10 bisexual flowers open in clusters at the tip of stem.

The flower stalk is thin and about 1.5-2.5 centimeters long.
