U.S. Accused of Pulling Up DPRK over Its Religious Issue
|
|
Pyongyang, November 4 (KCNA) -- The U.S. Department of State in a recent annual report on international religious freedom singled out eight countries including the DPRK as "the countries of special concern." It deliberately took issue with the religious situation in various countries, behaving as if it were "a religious judge." Rodong Sinmun Wednesday observes in a signed commentary carried in this regard: The groundless accusation made by the U.S. against the DPRK over what it called "religious issue" was nothing but a politically motivated grave provocation to it. Religionists are leading a free pious life, exercising inviolable rights as citizens free from any discrimination under Korean-style socialist system centered on the popular masses. Members of international religious organizations, religious bodies and believers from different countries witnessed this reality and favored and recognized the Korean religionists' life of faith during their visits to the DPRK. The U.S. provoked a war of aggression in Korea in the 1950s and indiscriminately bombed more than 1,900 churches and temples, destroying all of them and mercilessly killing hundreds of thousands of innocent believers. The U.S. reactionary ruling quarters are taking issue with the religious views and beliefs, which criticize the decadent American way of life and refuse to introduce it. Moreover, they are persecuting, arresting and killing those religionists displeased with their reactionary politics. It is the U.S. that brutally suppresses and murders not only American religionists but also foreign religionists. The U.S. talks a lot about "the religious issue" in the DPRK not because of any sincere interest in the pious life of the religionists but because of its criminal scenario to tarnish the image of the DPRK under the pretext of the above-said issue and realize its wild ambition to isolate and stifle the DPRK. It is foolish and reckless for the U.S. to try to do harm to the dignified DPRK through false propaganda. The U.S. had better settle its serious religious problems before pulling up other countries over non-existent "religious issues." |
