West's Accusation against DPRK over "Human Rights Issue" Refuted

Pyongyang, November 4 (KCNA) -- Unsavory forces of the West pulled up the DPRK over what they called "human rights issue" at a meeting of the 3rd Committee of the 64th UN General Assembly. The U.S. and Japan, in particular, were reported to have slandered the DPRK by linking the "human rights issue" with the issue of improving the relations with it. Minju Joson Wednesday observes in a signed commentary in this regard: We do not know what is the West's conception of human rights. But such "human rights issue" touted by the West has never existed in the DPRK and it cannot exist here. Under the socialist system in the DPRK, everything in the society serves the interests of the people and state activities are oriented to fully meet their requirements for independence as it was chosen by themselves, the commentary notes, and goes on: What matters is what real aim the above-said forces of the West are seeking through their "human rights offensive" against the DPRK. They seek to apply the "human rights" strategy in a bid to realize their sinister scenario to tarnish the image of the DPRK in the international arena and stifle it. The U.S. strategy for sanctions and military threat and blackmail to isolate and suffocate the DPRK economically and stifle it militarily is proving futile. For this reason, they pin hope on the "human rights" strategy like a drowning man trying to catch a straw. If the unsavory forces of the West are truly interested in the solution to the "human rights issue", they had better frankly open their human rights abuses to the public and face a judgment by the international community instead of wasting energy and time in taking issue with others. Particularly serious are the human rights abuses of Japan. Japan would be well advised to think twice about its miserable position in which it is fated to stand international trial for human rights abuses. Its attempt to do harm to the DPRK through such long-bankrupt "human rights offensive" is as foolish an act as trying to sweep the sea with a broom. |
