Rodong Sinmun Friday says this in a signed article.

It goes on:

National reunification is a patriotic cause of all Koreans and a nationwide cause achievable only when all of them pool their efforts and unite close in their struggle.

There are for the Korean nation the historic June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and the October 4 declaration, immortal great programmes for reunification which clearly indicate the way of achieving national reunification by the concerted efforts of all Koreans in the north and the south and overseas, guided by the idea of "By our nation itself".

They should make the trend of reconciliation and cooperation for independent reunification, peace and prosperity sweep the whole land to ensure that the challenge of the anti-reunification forces should be met and the movement for national reunification be given further momentum by the concerted efforts of the patriotic forces.

The Koreans' movement for independent reunification is mounting higher and their enthusiasm to achieve it growing stronger than ever before against the backdrop of the atmosphere of reconciliation and cooperation being created between the north and the south at present.

This is evidenced by what happened in last October alone. On the occasion of the 2nd anniversary of the publication of the October 4 declaration many social organizations and people from all walks of life in south Korea turned out in the actions to implement the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, a programme for materializing it.

Whoever with the blood and soul of the Korean nation should courageously turn out in the nationwide movement for reunification and thus make a tangible patriotic contribution to be remembered by history and posterity.
