International Meeting of Christians Held in Hong Kong
Pyongyang, November 14 (KCNA) -- An international meeting of Christians on peace, reconciliation and reunification on the Korean Peninsula was held in Hong Kong from Oct. 21 to 23.

It brought together the delegations of the World Council of Churches, the Christian Conference of Asia and the Christian Federation of Korea and other delegations and delegates from 28 countries including Laos, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Japan, Canada, the U.S., Germany, Britain, France, Switzerland and Kenya.

The meeting expressed deep concern about the grave situation prevailing on the peninsula due to the evermore undisguised hostile acts of the U.S., Japan and the south Korean authorities towards the DPRK and discussed the measures to intensify the international solidarity movement of the Christian organizations.

The communique adopted at the meeting said that the Korean people, a homogenous nation, are still undergoing sufferings from the artificial division caused by foreign forces. The inter-Korean relations that favorably developed amid the atmosphere of reconciliation and cooperation in line with the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and the October 4 declaration have deteriorated to an extreme pitch of tension due to the recent wrong moves of the south Korean authorities against the DPRK and the peninsula is exposed to a grave military danger owing to the reckless hostile policies of the U.S. and Japan towards it, it noted, and went on:

Christian organizations in various countries should intensify the international solidarity movement for the full implementation of the said declarations, the lifting of all the sanctions imposed upon the DPRK according to the resolution of the UN Security Council, support to the proposal for achieving reunification by federal formula, the resumption of the DPRK-U.S. talks, the improvement of the DPRK-Japan relations, the drop of the U.S. hostile policy towards the DPRK, stop to the military exercises in south Korea and its vicinity and the building of a nuclear-free world.
