Present there were Sok Myong Son, chairman of the confederation, Jo Yun Hae, chairperson of the Commonwealth of Independent States Regional Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification, chairmen and representatives of the United Confederations of Koreans in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, other compatriots and the DPRK ambassador to Russia and officials of his embassy in Moscow.

The participants first placed a floral basket before the full-length picture of President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

Then followed a meeting to commemorate the anniversary.

A congratulatory speech was made there by the DPRK ambassador to Russia.

Introduced then were congratulatory messages sent by the Committee for Overseas Koreans of the DPRK and several overseas Koreans' organizations.

Sok Myong Son in a report said that over the past 20 years since its formation the confederation has grown to be an organization representing the Koreans residing in the CIS region and has unswervingly followed the path of worthwhile struggle under the care of the peerlessly great men.

He called for more vigorously conducting the patriotic movement for reunification and activities helpful to the prosperity of the country under the banner of "By our nation itself."

A letter to Kim Jong Il was adopted there.

An appeal to the overseas Koreans all over the world was made public there. It said that national reunification is a pressing issue the solution of which brooks no further delay, stressing the need for all Koreans to pool their strength and wisdom and turn out in the struggle to accelerate the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea irrespective of political view and religious belief.

There took place on the same day a photo exhibition, a performance of Korean artistes and a reception.

The participants appreciated Korean film "The Country I Saw" (Parts 2 and 3).
