Kim Jong Il Enjoys Workers Art Performance
Pyongyang, November 22 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il enjoyed an art performance given by members of the itinerant art squads of the Kim Jong Thae Electric Locomotive Complex, the Taean Heavy Machine Complex and the Tobacco Complex and the art circle of the Pyongyang Children's Foodstuff Factory.

Put on the stage were such colorful numbers of diverse genres as chorus "We Are the Happiest in the World", poem and story "We Will Inherit the Revolutionary Spirit of Mt. Paektu Forever", mixed chorus "Push Back the Frontiers of Science", drum-accompanied singing in unison "Korea Advances, Holding the Red Flag", story and agitation "The Year of Great Changes" and drum and chorus "Let Us Uphold Our General".

The performers strikingly demonstrated the militant spirit of the heroic Korean workers who are dashing headlong toward the eminence of a thriving nation full of confidence in sure victory and optimism and well represented the proud picture of the working class' new culture created in the Songun era.

Kim Jong Il expressed great satisfaction over the successful performance given by the workers of industrial establishments, a performance perfect in ideological contents and artistry with art works of weighty cognitive and educational significance truthfully reflecting their life.

He gave a high appreciation of the fact that the itinerant art squad and art circle members have briskly conducted mass art activities in the thick of seething reality to inspiringly encourage the party members and other workers to working new miracles and feats, and extended thanks to all the performers.

In the course of protracted and arduous struggle the heroic Korean working class has fully demonstrated its dignity as the ranks faithful to the idea and guidance of the party and the leader and as the core force of the revolution resolutely adhering to the socialist principle with the steadfast stand for independence against imperialism, he said, adding: A great prosperous and powerful nation is sure to be built as such dependable working class creditably takes the lead in a drive for the building of a thriving nation.

He set forth highly important tasks to be fulfilled in intensifying the mass cultural art activities.

Among the audience were Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, department directors and first vice department directors of the WPK Central Committee and leading officials of the industrial establishments concerned.
