Historic Nanpaizi Meeting

Pyongyang, November 25 (KCNA) -- Over seven decades have elapsed since a historic meeting was held in Nanpaizi. Grave, indeed, was the situation in the latter half of the 1930s. Under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung the anti-Japanese armed struggle and the organizations of the Association for the Restoration of the Fatherland had been rapidly expanded and the Korean revolution was gaining momentum by the advance of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army into the homeland. Scared by this, the Japanese imperialists stepped up large-scale "punitive" operations and repression of the KPRA and the patriotic people. The aftermath of the adventurous expedition to Rehe imposed upon from outside made the then difficulties worse. To cope with the situation the President convened a meeting of military and political cadres in Nanpaizi, Mengjiang County from November 25 to December 6, Juche 27 (1938). At the meeting he made a historic speech titled "Let Us Break the Present Deadlock and Lead a Continuous Advance of the Revolution". In the speech he stated that it was important for the Korean communists to hold fast to the independent stand and to correctly evaluate the situation, saying that the units of the KPRA should advance into the border area around Mt. Paektu as soon as possible and invigorate the military and political activities in more vigorous way in wide areas. In order to actively organize and wage military and political activities in accordance with a new strategic and tactical policy, the forces of the KPRA should be reorganized in keeping with it, he noted, and designated in detail the theatres and content of operations of the newly-reorganized directional forces and the independent regiments. He stressed that in order to successfully carry out the difficult revolutionary tasks raised by the requirement of the situation, all the commanding officers and members of the KPRA should give a full display to the indomitable revolutionary spirit, firmly ensure the unity of the ranks based on the revolutionary comradeship and positively defend the interests of the people. He also underlined that the KPRA and the people should unite as one and fight against the Japanese imperialists. After the meeting the President led the main force of the KPRA into the homeland, while taking measures to select best members of the KPRA and send them to some units of the Anti-Japanese Allied Army. The historic Nanpaizi Meeting made a great contribution to initiatively bridging over the difficulties of the revolution and to waging more vigorously the overall Korean revolution with the anti-Japanese armed struggle as the centre on a steadfast independent stand. |
