On the occasion the Chinese defence minister courteously conveyed to Kim Jong Il regards of Hu Jintao, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, President of the People's Republic of China and chairman of the Central Military Commission of the PRC.

Kim Jong Il expressed thanks for this and asked Liang Guanglie to convey his regards to Hu Jintao before having a cordial and friendly talk with Liang.

Present there were Vice Marshal of the Korean People's Army Kim Yong Chun, vice-chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and minister of the People's Armed Forces, Kang Sok Ju, first vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, Chinese Ambassador to the DPRK Liu Xiaoming, and Military, Naval and Air Attache of the Chinese embassy Sun Yanfeng.
