The Workers' Party of Korea initiated the movement in November of Juche 64 (1975), a historical period when the transformation of the whole society after the Juche idea came to the fore and has increased the nation's might, political, military and economic, in every way by deepening it as required by the developing reality in the DPRK.

The history of the DPRK is permeated with the undying feats of the Korean people who have pushed ahead with the revolution and construction through mass movements including the Three-revolution Red Flag Movement, rallied around the Party and the leader in one mind.

After the liberation of the country the Korean people under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung turned out in the general ideological mobilization movement for building the country, emulation drive for increased production and campaign against illiteracy. As a result the production was rapidly increased in industry and agriculture and illiteracy abolished for the first time in the east and the political, economic and cultural foundations of the young DPRK were cemented.

In the post-war rehabilitation and construction period, too, the working people daringly waged a collective innovation movement for brining about a great upsurge in the socialist construction. Through the movement they turned out 120,000 tons of rolled steel at the blooming mill with a capacity of 60,000 tons, completed the 80-odd kilometers-long Haeju-Hasong railway project within 75 days and created the "Pyongyang Speed" by building dwelling houses for 20,000 families with materials, fund and manpower for 7,000 families, thus demonstrating the spirit of heroic Korea.

It is unthinkable apart from the might of the Three-revolution Red Flag Movement that the Korean people ushered in a great heyday of the WPK era in the socialist construction in the 1970s and 1980s and won proud victories and successes in the struggle for defending socialism and in the efforts for building a thriving nation under the leadership of General Secretary Kim Jong Il in the 1990s and 2000s.

Through the movement which has developed in depth in the new century the entire people have been armed with the Songun idea, the material and technological foundation of the national economy has been consolidated and the revolutionary soldier culture, a new one in the Songun era, has prevailed all over the country.

The present reality clearly proves that the mass movement of the working people who are equipped with the revolutionary idea and united around their great leader is the most powerful weapon for developing the society.
