The police took such repressive action on charges of violating the "law on government employees", claiming that the chairman and other leading members of the union led the action for making public declarations on the situation and participated in the rally called by the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions last month.

Earlier, the puppet Ministry of Administration and Security announced that it would not recognize the Government Employees' Union as a legal organization and seize its 53 branch offices until Friday.
