Displayed in the venues of the events were works of Kim Jong Il and photos of the Korean people in the efforts to build a great prosperous and powerful nation.

Miroslav Stepan, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Czechoslovak Communist Party, said that the progressive humankind is recollecting the unique Songun politics pursued by Kim Jong Il on the occasion of the significant day. The Songun politics is the politics giving hope and confidence to all the people, he added.

Oliver Jonischkeit, federal secretary of the Left Bloc of the Austrian Trade Union Federation, noted that under the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il the army and people of the DPRK have firmly defended the dignity and sovereignty of the country and developed socialism while foiling the moves of the U.S. and other imperialist forces.

This encourages the progressive trade unions the world over struggling for the interests of the working class, he said.

Saying that Kim Jong Suk's noble exploits for the cause of the Korean revolution will remain forever, he expressed support for all the measures taken by the DPRK to defend its sovereignty.
