The union accused the "government" of resorting to such repressive moves as closing its branch offices and disallowing the establishment of the union and so on. This is a wanton violation of the rights of workers and the right of the trade unions to organise, it held.

The Railway Workers' Union also called a press conference on Dec. 3 at which it denounced the "government" and the management side for trampling down upon the rights of the people and suppressing the trade unions by terming the demands of the trade unions for the right to existence "illegal ones" under the pretext of "economic recovery."
