The college, founded in May Juche 63 (1974), has made a contribution to the development of art in the country over the past 35 years by rearing talented reserve artistes.

Through elaborate education programs, it has brought out many able artistes and art teachers and published textbooks and reference books of value.

Among awardees in individual contests for February 16 Art Prize and national sketch festivals held in celebration of Feb. 16, there are students of the college.

Many of its graduates are now active in the State Merited Chorus, Phibada Opera Troupe, State Folk Art Troupe, Mansudae Art Studio and other renowned art and educational institutions.
