Multi-purpose Solar Greenhouse Built
Pyongyang, December 15 (KCNA) -- The Natural Energy Development and Utilization Center of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea has built a multi-purpose solar greenhouse with great economic effectiveness.

The mud-walled greenhouse consists of a vegetable cultivation block, domestic animal pens, a methane tank and fishpond. With the processes of production (vegetable), consumption (fodder) and dissolution (fermentation) combined in a rational way, it gives no pollution to environment.

The by-products from the vegetable cultivation are taken to feed pigs and excrement of pigs to produce methane. And liquid manure coming from the fermentation is used as fodder of fish and additional manure, while gas is utilized in preparing fodder and adjusting the temperature of the greenhouse.

The greenhouse has the angle of inclination and pitch of roofs designed to make a maximum use of solar heat and offer convenience in management. An insulation layer was installed in the back wall to prevent the formation of air current and minimize heat loss.

A channel-shaped fishpond was made in the front part of the greenhouse to store heat in the daytime and let out heat in the evening, making it possible to prevent cool air coming from the outside and keep the temperature of the greenhouse above ten degrees C in winter without using fuel like coal.

It is also possible to readjust the blocks of vegetable cultivation, fish breeding and animal pens.
