Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- The Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) presented a letter to General Secretary Kim Jong Il on Dec. 14 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the repatriation of Koreans from Japan. The letter noted that the repatriation of Koreans from Japan marked a historic event which realized the cherished desire of the Koreans in Japan to enjoy true happiness in the homeland which protects and takes care of their destiny after being subjected to a miserable life as colonial slaves of the Japanese imperialists. Recalling that the care of President Kim Il Sung, the sun of the nation, meant the genuine motherland which the Koreans in Japan ardently longed to see for such a long period, the letter referred to the fact that the President formed Chongryon, an organization of overseas compatriots, enabling them to emerge proud overseas citizens of an independent and sovereign state. Noting that Kim Jong Il has taken warm care of Korean residents in Japan, regarding them as members of the big family of Kim Il Sung's nation just as the President loved them so much, the letter stressed that thanks to this loving care and leadership Chongryon and Koreans in Japan could exalt their honor of being a model of the world overseas compatriots movement and a forerunner in the patriotic movement generation after generation. The letter evinced the determination of Koreans in Japan to make a tangible contribution to the building of a rich and powerful country, reinforce Chongryon as a proud overseas citizens organization of the DPRK and a true patriotic compatriots body and bring about a new heyday in the movement of Koreans in Japan without fail. We will make the Japanese authorities definitely lift the unreasonable "sanctions" against the DPRK so that the sailing of ship "Mangyongbong-92" is resumed, resolutely protect the dignity and rights of Koreans in Japan as overseas citizens of the DPRK and train the rising generation to be proud talented Koreans who will carry forward the patriotic tradition, said the letter. |
