Revolutionary Self-reliant Spirit of Kangson Carried Forward
Pyongyang, December 18 (KCNA) -- The workers of the Chollima Steel Complex, in the 100-day campaign, are giving a full display to the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance which had been prevailed in Kangson in the period of the post-war rehabilitation and construction.

They have remarkably increased the steel output by making a UHP electric arc furnace with their own efforts and technologies and introducing a Korean-style iron production method.

During the three-year-long Fatherland Liberation War, the Kangson Steel Plant, the predecessor of the complex, was damaged severely.

Seen hither and thither in the compound of the plant were much more than ten thousands of bomb craters, naked steel-frame structures, broken tubes, entangled electric wires and overgrown weeds.

The workers of the plant, however, turned out in the reconstruction of the plant with the belief that the Korean people could emerge victorious in the post-war rehabilitation and construction under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung as they did in the war.

When visiting the plant in August of Juche 42 (1953), the President inspired the workers to boost the steel production, saying that the plant should be reconstructed with local-made equipment and domestic materials and technologies at an early date and that, with a firm conviction, could they do it.

After his visit they had a meeting to organize a shock brigade and start the restoration of electric furnaces.

They turned out the first molten iron from electric furnace No. 2 which they reconstructed by themselves in only 40 days following the end of the war.

Their revolutionary spirit of self-sustenance has been successfully carried forward by the workers in all parts of the country including Kangson to work new miracles and innovations day by day.
