Present at the meeting were senior party, army and state officials and people from all walks of life in Pyongyang.

Kim Yong Nam, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, read out a joint congratulatory message sent by the WPK Central Committee and the DPRK National Defence Commission to the workers, technicians and officials of the Songjin Steel Complex.

The message noted that the big success made in creating the iron- and steel-making method of Korean-style is tantamount to a shining victory of Kim Il Sung's unique idea of producing Juche iron and marks a great auspicious event for all the people and the whole state, a product of the inexhaustible mental power of the workers of Songgang boundlessly faithful to the party and the leader. This is entirely ascribable to General Secretary Kim Jong Il's firm faith and noble sense of moral obligation, rare wisdom and outstanding leadership to solve 100 per cent what the President planned and desired in his lifetime, the message noted, adding:

The above-said spectacular success represents a great victory of the immortal Juche idea and a great demonstration of the national power more striking than the conduct of the third nuclear test.

Choe Thae Bok, alternate member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the WPK Central Committee, in his welcome report said that the WPK and the country and its people will always remember the heroic exploit the workers of Songgang have performed by establishing an iron production process entirely relying on Juche iron and turning out iron and steel in full capacity, thereby successfully materializing the behests of the President.

Speakers at the meeting stressed that their indomitable revolutionary spirit and work-style serve as an example to be followed by all the people in the on-going general offensive.

Ri Chol Ho, manager of the Songjin Steel Complex, in his speech said that the complex would boost the production of quality steel and ensure its supply to all fields of national economy and thus proudly participate in the great festival celebrating the 65th birthday of the WPK.
